2024 Met Gala: Catch up with all the live action from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The 2024 Met Gala has finally begun! And, fashionistas from around the world have descended on the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to walk the red carpet. This year, the event is being co-chaired by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny and as usual, Vogue's Anna Wintour is at the helm at the Costume Institute benefit.
The theme of this year's Met Gala is "The Garden of Time", inspired by J.G. Ballard's 1962 short story of the same name. The theme stems from the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's latest exhibition, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion". Around 250 garments will be on display from the Costume Institute's collection of 33,000 pieces. Many pieces have typically never been shown before and some are too fragile to hang.
1) The Met Gala carpet this year isn't red. To go with the 2024 theme, it has been transformed into a beautiful garden with the steps being covered in cream and green ombre effect, surrounded by flowers and greenery.
2) Anna Wintour, the Met Gala queen and Vogue's iconic editor-in-chief, arrived at the 2024 Met Gala in a custom Loewe ensemble, featuring dramatic, long black blazer adorned with red and yellow flowers.

3) The co-hosts have also arrived at the venue to attend the biggest fashion event of the year.
Looking dapper as ever, co-host Bad Bunny hit the carpet in a suit from the Maison Margiela Artisanal Collection by John Galliano. He completed the look with a pair of Maison Margiela's signature Tabi boots.
Co-host Jennifer Lopez opted for a custom-made crystal-covered gown by Schiaparelli Haute Couture. She paired her nearly-nude dress with sky-high platform heels and jewels from Tiffany & Co.
Zendaya arrived at the venue in custom Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano, channelling a peacock.
Chris Hemsworth wore a custom Tom Ford look for the gala. He was accompanied by Elsa Pataky on the carpet.
4) Mindy Kaling collaborated with Indian designer Gaurav Gupta for an avant-garde look. She wore a structural beige dress that also had a little "bling." Speaking to Vogue, Mindy revealed that the dress is called "The Melting Flower of Time."
5) Tyla, who sung the viral song "Water", walked the carpet in a custom Balmain gown, made of actual sand. To mark her Met Gala debut, Tyla opted for this daring strapless dress, which was made to hug every inch of her body before flaring out into an organza mermaid train. The dress was made of three colours of sand, mixed with micro-crystal studs. To complete the look, she carried the Balmain hourglass clutch that matched the gala's theme perfectly.
Speaking about the event during the livestream, Tyla said, "It feels amazing. I’m so excited to go inside and see all the pictures when I go home."
6) The verdict is out! While Nicki Minaj, Kim Kardashian, Tyla and Emma Chamberlain served some of the best looks of the night, celebs like Rita Ora, Lea Michele, Blackpink's Jennie and Kendall Jenner failed to make a mark with their sartorial picks. 7) Alia Bhatt looked like an Indian princess as she arrived at the gala in an intricately handcrafted Sabyasachi saree, studded with real gems. The diva's ethereal look was accentuated by a 23-foot-long train with floral detailing, glass beading and semi-precious gemstones. The entrepreneur stunned in a metallic corset gown which had a cinched waist. Kim's gown had a metallic leaf design by Maison Margiela. However, what stunned everyone was her surprising choice of a warm grey cardigan by John Galliano that really made her entire style stand out.
