Smriti Irani, Union Minister for Women and Child Development has lost in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi constituency against Congress' Kishori Lal by a margin of 1,67,196 votes in the Lok Sabha election on Tuesday (June 4).

On Tuesday (June 4), Priyanka Gandhi shared an old picture with Kishori Lal Sharma on social media platform X. In a post in Hindi, Priyanka said that she had no doubt that he would win.
"Kishori bhaiya, I had no doubts. I was confident from the beginning that you will win. Congratulations to you and my brothers and sisters of Amethi," Priyanka Gandhi wrote.
Once the stronghold of the Gandhi family, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019 won the Amethi seat, with Irani defeating Rahul Gandhi, who was then the Congress president.
Smriti Irani wrote on X, she will be forever grateful to people who supported her in victory and loss.

Smriti Irani also congratulated KL Sharma for his astounding win and said that she would continue to serve the people of Amethi.
The minister further said, "I humbly thank the people of Bharat for reaffirming their faith in the NDA led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji for the third consecutive term."
"A decade of tireless effort put into fulfilling the dreams & aspirations of over 140 crore Indians has paid off with a historic victory that has only made our resolve stronger. The NDA family is beyond grateful to the people of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Arunachal Pradesh for blessing us with a landslide majority mandate," she added.
