PM Modi calls NDA 'most successful' ruling alliance

Addressing the NDA parliamentary party meeting, Senior BJP leader Pralhad Joshi said on Friday (June 7) the oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for 6 pm on June 9. 

Senior alliance leaders, including chief ministers and NDA MPs, attended the NDA parliamentary meeting. BJP president JP Nadda is expected to propose a resolution supporting Modi's leadership, which allies and MPs are likely to endorse.

Addressing the NDA parliamentary party meeting Narendra Modi said, "I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the leaders of the constituent parties present here, all the newly elected MPs and our Rajya Sabha MPs.”

“It is a matter of happiness for me that I have had the opportunity to welcome such a large group here today. All those leaders who have come victorious deserve congratulations. The lakhs of workers who have worked day and night, today from this central hall, I bow down and salute them," said Modi.

"Very few people discuss this, perhaps it doesn't suit them. But look at the strength of the great democracy of India - today, people have given NDA the opportunity to form a government and serve in 22 states,” he further said.

“I am deeply honored that you have unanimously chosen me as the leader of the NDA. You have entrusted me with a new responsibility, and I am extremely grateful to all of you. In 2019, when I addressed this House and you selected me as the leader, I emphasised the importance of trust. Today, your decision to bestow this role upon me signifies that the bridge of trust between us remains strong. This relationship is built on a solid foundation of trust, which is our greatest asset," the PM said.

“NDA is a group committed to the nation first. It must have been assembled in the beginning after a long period of 30 years. But today I can say that NDA is an organic alliance in the political system of India and great leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Parkash Singh Badal, Balasaheb Thackeray...who sown the seed, today the people of India have watered the trust of NDA and turned that seed into a fruitful one. We all have the legacy of such great leaders and we are proud of it. In the past 10 years, we have tried to move forward with the same legacy, the same values of NDA and to take the country forward,” said PM Narendra Modi.

Taking a swipe at the opposition, Bihar CM, JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar said, “Those who have won this time will lose next elections. I’m confident about it, they never worked for the nation. The country will progress under PM Modi’s leadership.”

"All the pending works of Bihar will be done. It is a very good thing that all of us have come together and we will all work together with you. Whenever you take the oath, we will be with you...We will all work together under your leadership," said Kumar.

Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan said, "Modi ji you truly inspire the nation. As long as you are the Prime Minister of this country, our country will never bow down to anyone.”

The NDA, with 292 MPs, comfortably exceeded the majority mark of 272 in the 543-member Lok Sabha.
