Gaikwad said he would reward anyone with Rs 11 lakh for cutting off Gandhi's tongue, following the Congress leader's recent controversial comments during his US visit.
Days after Noida DM called Rahul Gandhi 'Pappu' sparking backlash from Congress, Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad stirred a controversy on Monday (September 16) with a statement targeting the Congress leader. Gaikwad said he would reward anyone with Rs 11 lakh for cutting off Gandhi's tongue, following the Congress leader's recent controversial comments during his US visit.
"The kind of statement made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has exposed the true face of Congress. During the Lok Sabha elections, they sought votes by spreading lies that the Constitution was in danger, claiming that the BJP would change the Constitution. Today, in America, he said that the reservation system established by Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar would be dismantled. Such words have come from his mouth. Whoever cuts his tongue, I will give them Rs 11 lakh," Gaikwad said.

Gaikwad's comments follow Gandhi's statements in the USA, where the Congress MP pointed out the lack of representation for Dalits, Adivasis, and OBCs in the system. He criticised the inequality in India, stating, "If you look at the Indian government, there are 70 bureaucrats who run the government, secretaries to the Government of India. These are the individuals who make almost all the financial decisions... Out of 70 people, there is one tribal, three Dalits, three OBCs, and a minority. Ninety per cent of India's population has access to less than 10 per cent of the positions that determine how money is spent. When you look at the financial figures, tribals receive 10 paise out of every Rs 100, Dalits get Rs 5, and OBCs a similar amount."
This development follows an earlier incident where Noida District Magistrate (DM) Manish Verma faced backlash for a comment on Rahul Gandhi. Verma’s official X account referred to Gandhi as ‘Pappu’, a derogatory term often used by political opponents. The Congress party immediately demanded action against the DM.
Verma later clarified in a post on X, explaining that his account had been misused by anti-social elements who posted the offensive comment. He added, "Taking this seriously, legal action is being taken by registering an FIR immediately and the wrong tweet/comment is being investigated by the cyber cell."
