Met Gala 2024: Best and worst looks from biggest fashion event of the year

When we think of the Met Gala, we only expect the best from the celebrities gracing the red carpet. And, they never disappoint when it comes to putting their best fashion foot forward, at least a few! The extravaganza's dress code this year is "The Garden of Time", which draws inspiration from J.G. Ballard's 1962 short story of the same name. So, several stars celebrated the ephemeral nature of beauty with their ensembles. 

It's time to put on our judging caps and discuss who's outdone themselves this year with head-turning outfits and who simply failed to make a mark with their sartorial pick.

Kendall Jenner (Worst)

Kendall wore a 1999 Givenchy Couture dress to 2024 Met Gala. The gown featured several cutouts and fringe on the shoulders. While the dress looked okaish, it did not match the event's theme - "The Garden of Time".

Blackpink's Jennie (Worst)

Blackpink's Jennie opted for a custom outfit by luxury fashion brand ALAÏA for her Met Gala appearance. The dress was crafted out of a single yarn of merino wool, which she paired with matching heels, earrings and a waist chain. Too simple for the Met Gala carpet? We think so too!

The only good part about this dress is the tulle cape. The randomly placed flowers make the outfit look cheap.

Rita Ora (Worst)

The colour of Rita's bodysuit doesn't match her skin and looks slightly off and the dress too doesn't look too flattering on the singer. We expect a lot more from you, Rita!

Nicki Minaj (Best)

Nicki Minaj is a pro when it comes to nailing Met Gala fashion. And this year too, she took the theme to a whole new level with her floral sculpture dress by Marni’s Francesco Risso.

What a clever interpretation of the theme! The dress also looks perfectly tailored. And, the Balmain hourglass-shaped handbag needs a special mention.

Kim served the best of haute couture at the 2024 Met Gala in this Maison Margiela Artisanal ensemble. The blonde hair, ultra glam makeup and perfectly-matched nail art - it just screams perfection.
