Story highlights

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have also finalised two shows with Netflix on cooking, gardening & professional polo among other things.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have finally cracked a deal with Netflix. After much to and fro, the duo has got a green light for two new series with the OTT giant in the space of gardening, cooking and professional polo, among other things. These will be two non-fiction projects.

These two shows are part of an overall deal with the OTT streamer. The deal was signed with the company in 2020 via their Archewell Productions banner. They will be produced by Sony Pictures Television’s The Intellectual Property Corporation.

What are the shows about

The first series will see Meghan Markle enjoying the art of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship. Selena + Chef’s Leah Hariton will serve as showrunner with Michael Steed as director.

The second series follows the world of professional polo. Shot primarily at the US Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida, at The USPA National Polo Center, the series will explore the sport, which is known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene. Prince Harry has been known as a keen polo player and is often photographed playing internationally.

Miloš Balać will serve as showrunner while Prince Harry and Meghan will executive produce alongside Pysnik for Archewell Productions, with Andrew Fried, Sarina Roma, and Dane Lillegard exec producing for Boardwalk Pictures and Balać and Ian Samplin also exec producing.

Both untitled shows are in the early stages of production.

Meghan recently announced a new business venture

Meghan had recently announced a new lifestyle brand. She has named it the American Riviera Orchard.

American Riviera Orchard seems to be a nod to Santa Barbara, the California town where Meghan and her husband Prince Harry reside with their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Most locals call Santa Barbara the “American Riviera”.

Meghan plans to venture into home interior space with the brand as reports suggest that a trademark application for the same is currently under examination. Once approved, American Riviera Orchard will sell tableware, drinkware including decanters, kitchen linens and edible treats such as jellies, jams, marmalade and spreads. The trademark application is also seeking approval for cookbooks.
