Shah Rukh Khan's KKR lost the match but the actor won hearts with this gesture.
We should all learn the art of defeat from Shah Rukh Khan as the Bollywood actor looked poised and calm even after his team Kolkata Knight Riders lost a nail-biting match against Rajasthan Royals in an IPL 2024 match.
After losing, the KKR owner walked down to the middle of the iconic venue of Eden Gardens in Kolkata and congratulated RR's hero Jos Buttler with a warm hug.
The match against KKR and RR went on till the last ball in a top-of-the-table contest.
It was a sight to watch as Shah Rukh Khan was seen embracing Jos Buttler and patting the England captain on his back for the latter's scintillating knock of 107 off just 60 balls. Jos Buttler remained unbeaten and recorded the most successful chase in the history of the IPL.
The cricketer hit 6 sixes and 9 boundaries. His powerful batting trumped Sunil Narine's maiden IPL hundred – helping his team Rajasthan Royals successfully chase 224 in last night’s match.
Jos looked very happy as Shah Rukh Khan approached him because, on several previous occasions, the cricketer had expressed his admiration for the superstar.
Shah Rukh Khan makes it a point to make it to at least some of the games that his team Kolkata Knight Riders is playing. This season, like previous years, he has been regularly attending KKR’s home and away matches.
As for the IPL match, it was a nail-biter since things changed when big-hitter Rovman Powell got out in the 17th over bowled by Sunil Narine. RR slipped to 178 for 7 and looked like they would end up losing the match. RR needed 46 runs in their last 3 overs with Jos Buttler and the lower-order batters in the shed.
Jos kept his calm and played a great knock in the last overs.
Shah Rukh’s team also made some good records with Sunil Narine becoming the third KKR batter after Venkatesh Iyer (2022) and Brendon McCullum (2008) to hit a hundred for the team in the IPL.
With this match, Rajasthan Royals moved to the top of the IPL 2024 points table while KKR retained their second spot.
