IPL 2025 auctions date out

With the retention window closing on October 31, all eyes were on the auction dates as 10 franchises now prepare to assemble the best possible squads in the league. A total of 46 players were retained by 10 franchises during the retention window on October 31, with top names once again avoiding the auctions. It will be a two-day process during which all 10 franchises will try to splash the cash for some of the big names in the market.

Last year, the auctions were held in Dubai, where Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc were top players to pull off big deals.

During the retention window, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, SunRisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants retained five players while Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals used all six retention cards. Punjab Kings retained the least number of players with two and have a purse of more than ₹1 billion ($10 million) to spend in the auctions.

Who is in the auction?

While top players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni will avoid going to the bidding table, this won’t be the case for some top players. Mitchell Starc will once again enter the auctions having acquired the biggest price tag in the last auctions. He will be joined by the likes of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul while Mohammed Siraj, Arhsdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal will also be part of the process as top Indian talents.
