Having won the T20 World Cup for the second time on Saturday, the Indian team faced issues reaching India but finally arrived on Thursday in New Delhi. The team would then head to Mumbai where they got a grand welcome from the Mumbai crowd before being felicitated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Rohit Sharma’s Team India got a hero’s welcome when they returned home with the T20 World Cup trophy on Thursday (July 4). Having won the T20 World Cup for the second time on Saturday, the Indian team faced issues reaching home but finally arrived on Thursday in New Delhi. The team then headed to the Indian financial capital where they got a grand welcome from the Mumbai crowd before being felicitated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

In a grand ceremony held at the Wankhede Stadium, the BCCI officials felicitated Team India and its stars and handed a cheque of INR 1.25 billion ($15 million). Board Secretary Jay Shah, President Roger Binney, BCCI Vice President, Treasurer Ashish Shelar and others were present at the ceremony as Team India was welcomed with open arms. Players were then seen going around the stadium taking a victory lap handing out signed balls to the fans and showcasing the World Cup trophy.

Having arrived in New Delhi in the wee hours of Thursday, Rohit Sharma and the rest of the Indian team visited the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi where they received a grand welcome.
The players soon left for Mumbai from New Delhi for a huge ceremony planned at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was around 6 pm when Team India arrived in Mumbai with the T20 World Cup Trophy with high security on alert.
The team initially left the airport in buses before arriving near Marine Drive where they got into an open-roof bus. The team enjoyed its drive with fans out in numbers as they thronged the streets along Marine Drive. The open-roof bus then entered the Wankhede Stadium where the players received another warm welcome.
Rohit Sharma was the key attraction while Hardik Pandya was seen dancing to the tunes of dhol when entering the stadium.
