Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma wore the India flag WITH PRIDE after their historic T20 World Cup win, where they beat South Africa by 7 runs in the final in Barbados on June 29. Here is the video -

On Saturday (Jun 29), Rohit Sharma-led India beat South Africa by 7 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 final at the Kensington Oval, Barbados to win their second title. Batting first, India rode on Virat Kohli's 76 and vital knocks from Axar Patel (47) and Shivam Dube (27) to post 176-7. In reply, South Africa were cruising ahead courtesy of Heinrich Klaasen's onslaught (52) before Jasprit Bumrah's death-over heroics brought India back whereas Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya complemented him to take India to a 7-run win. After the win, Kohli and Rohit announced their T20I retirements. 

After the contest, in Barbados, Kohli and Rohit posed with the T20 World Cup trophy wearing the Indian flag with pride.

Both Rohit and Kohli have now made room for the Indian youngsters to take up their respective spots. Rohit ended his T20I career with the most runs by a batter (4,231) whereas Kohli finished at the second spot (with 4,188 runs). Hitman also ended with two T20 WC titles, in 2007 and 2024. The Indian captain had a memorable run in the 20-nation T20 WC in West Indies and the USA, ending with 257 runs (second-most) whereas Kohli had a torrid run before turning it around in the final, scoring an impressive 59-ball 76. 

Both will continue to play for India in the longer formats. After Rohit and Kohli's retirement announcement, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah revealed that the Indian seniors will take part in next year's Champions Trophy.
