More About Heeramandi 2

Announced during an event at Carter Road, Mumbai, Season 2 will revolve around courtesans who left Lahore and moved to Mumbai or Kolkata.

Revealing more about the Season 2 plot, Bhansali said, per Variety, “In Heeramandi 2, the women now come from Lahore to the film world. They leave Lahore after the partition and most of them settle in the Mumbai film industry or Kolkata film industry. So that journey in the bazaar remains the same. They still have to dance and sing, but this time for the producers and not for the nawabs. So that’s the second season we are planning, let’s see where it goes.”

Information around the show's cast, like who will reprise their role, new additions and release date has been kept under wraps.

What is Heeramandi About?

Set against the backdrop of India's independence struggle in the 1940s, season 1 revolves around the courtesans living in the Heeramandi area of Lahore, British India. It focuses on six courtesans, who are distinct from each other. However, the show's main attraction is Mallikajaan (Manisha Koirala), the queen of Heeramandi, and head of the brothel Shahi Mehel where she controls the life of every single being living under her roof.

Mallikajaan is ruling Heeramandi alone until her niece Fareedan, played by Sonakshi Sinha, returns to take revenge for her mother's death. The eight episodes revolve around politics, the struggle of the nautch girls, love stories and at the end, their fight for freedom.

Who Plays What In Heeramandi?

The show boasts an ensemble cast featuring actors such as Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chaddha, and others. Sinha plays a dual role as Fareedan and Rehana, while Aditi plays the role of Bibbojaan, Richa Chaddha plays the role of Lajjo, Sanjeeda Shaikh plays the role of Waheeda and Sharmin Sehgal plays Alamzeb, the youngest of all.
