Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has got a release date. The date was unveiled on Wednesday (Mar 27) at a drone light show event held at the Mahalaxmi Race Course in South Mumbai.
The show will premiere on the streaming platform Netflix on May 1.
The event also gave a sneak peek into the world of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.
It was attended by the show's star cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Sheikh, Prerna Singh, CEO of Bhansali Productions, and Tanya Bami, Director of Series, Netflix India.
Cast member Aditi Rao Hydari was missing from the event.
Earlier in the day, news reports came in that Aditi tied the knot with actor Siddharth in a secret ceremony in Telangana. Later, the two said it was an engagement, not marriage.
About Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar
The teaser of the series was unveiled a few weeks back and from the looks of it, the series looks like a quintessential Sanjay Leela Bhansali saga complete with stunning sets, a breathtaking costumes.
The series is billed as an epic saga of love, power, revenge and freedom and explores the cultural reality of Heeramandi, a dazzling district, through the stories of courtesans and their patrons set against the tumultuous backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle of the 1940s.
The series is based on the concept by Moin Beg.
Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is created and directed by Bhansali. He also serves as a producer on the show.
