Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD has arrived in the theatres! Starring Indian cinema's biggest stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, the movie has been one of the most anticipated projects of the year.

Made with a whooping budget of Rs 600 crore (Rs 6 million), the sci-fi movie is inspired by Hindu mythology and revolves around Kalki, the 10th and final incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

What Kalki 2989 AD is All About?

The movie earned the audience's attention for its star-studded cast and the futuristic dystopian world. The movie's story revolves around Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), Sumati (Deepika Padukone) and Bhairava (Prabhas). Set 6000 years after the Kurukshetra war in Mahabharat in the dry city of Kasi, the movie shows the dire situation of the world with the scarcity of food, water and air.  The world is ruled by the god Yashkin, who lives in a huge elevated inverted triangle block called the Complex, and then there is pregnant Sumathi (Deepika Padukone), who elopes from the inverted triangle and is protected by Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), who is saving her unborn child, Kalki, the tenth avatar of Hindu god Vishnu from bounty hunter Bhairava (Prabhas).
