Did Pankaj Tripathi happily lose a few projects because of wife Mridula?

What is love if you can’t have a little blind faith in your partner? Pankaj Tripathi's wife Mridula switched careers – she stopped being a teacher to become her husband's manager. When Mridula first started managing his acting work, she wasn't confident in her abilities. Even though she made some mistakes that caused Pankaj to lose some acting jobs; and at a time when they needed the money – Pankaj believed in her more than she believed in herself. 

Later, in an interview with Conversations with Atul, Mridula explained that being Pankaj's manager requires being strict and firm. She said she's good at this role because she knows everything about him – both his personality and how he behaves. 

A wife and the manager 

She stated, “No one can handle him better than me. Earlier, he was being managed by an agency, but a few things happened, and he left them. He was the one who persuaded me to take this role of a manager. I had no knowledge about this because I was a teacher. I had no relation with the industry, I had no idea who is a producer, who is a presenter. All of this was new for me!” 

Pankaj explained to Mridula what her job as his manager would involve. She would need to attend meetings for him, read through movie scripts, and help him make decisions about his acting career. Another important part of her job was to negotiate how much money Pankaj would be paid for his acting roles. “I told him that he might lose a few projects in this process, because I am not good at it, I am not instantly comfortable in such conversations.” 

Room for errors 

She added, “So, he did lose two-three projects at a time when it was important for him to get offers, to earn money. I felt things were going wrong because of me, but he clearly told me, ‘Ek-do baar gadbad hoga, phir theek ho jayega (you will goof up a few times, then it will be alright). Then I started and I think I manage him decently.”

Mridula says now the entire industry knows that she is his wife as well as the manager, so some people assume that she will convince him to accept a script at a certain fee. Mridula said that she used to threaten him saying she would quit being his manager. While he had an ongoing joke for a long time that he is the only man who cannot get angry either at home or work, because “the wife is everywhere!”
