According to Reuters, Barack and Michelle Obama, along with Steven Spielberg, made an impromptu appearance in Barcelona on Friday, where they visited popular tourist sites before attending a Bruce Springsteen concert at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium that evening.
Former US President Barack Obama, accompanied by his wife Michelle Obama, filmmaker Steven Spielberg, made an unexpected appearance in Barcelona on Friday, reported Reuters. The trio joined the crowds of tourists to visit some of the city's main sites. The purpose of their visit was to attend a concert by their friend Bruce Springsteen at Barcelona's Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium on Friday night. On Thursday, Obama, Spielberg, and Springsteen dined at the Amar restaurant in the Palace Hotel. The staff of the restaurant could not contain their excitement and took a photo with them, which was uploaded to Instagram by staff member Pol Perello, who expressed how thrilled he was to meet them.
On Friday, the Obamas and Spielberg continued their tour of Barcelona by visiting some of the city's most famous cultural landmarks. Stops on the tour included the Sagrada Familia Basilica, designed by Antoni Gaudi, and the Picasso Museum.
The Spanish media outlets were buzzing with the news and showed the former president and first lady walking hand in hand through central Barcelona, surrounded by a large group of security guards.
Obama and Springsteen have a long-standing friendship that dates back to 2008, when they first met on the presidential campaign trail. In 2021, they co-hosted a podcast that was so popular it spawned a book titled Renegades: Born in the USA.
