Mission Impossible 8 to not release next year.
Tom Cruise starrer Mission Impossible won’t be hitting theatres until 2025. Paramount Pictures has announced that the film which was originally scheduled for 2024 will move at least a year later as they won’t be able to finish work on the project amid the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. The makers were keen to finish on time but strikes have paused all work.
The same is true for most tentpoles which require heavy pre-production and post-production work. If the situation with unions and studios continues, a lot of films will end up losing crucial time.
So now, the next installment of Mission Impossible will be released on May 23, 2025, instead of June 28, 2024. Next in line would be A Quiet Place: Day One, which will land on June 28, 2024, instead of March 8, 2024. Meanwhile, an untitled animated SpongeBob SquarePants adventure has been postponed from May 23, 2025, to Dec. 19, 2025.
Also, Mission Impossible 8 will have a new name. Paramount and Skydance are dropping the second half of its title, that is Dead Reckoning Part Two.
