Deadpool & Wolverine will feature Madonna's 1989 hit "Like A Prayer."
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's highly anticipated Deadpool and Wolverine is set to hit the theatres on July 26 and before that, the two superheroes are busy promoting their movie and sharing every detail of what they had to do to make this movie a success.
Recently, Ryan, Hugh and the director of the movie Shawn Levy shared how they visited Madonna personally to use her 1989 hit "Like A Prayer" in the upcoming movie.
In an interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM, the trio revealed how they visited Madonna, 65, to ask her for permission, how their meeting went and every inside detail.
During the chat, Ryan shared that he and Shawn Levy had a “personal meeting with Madonna” to show her the particular sequence in which the song would be used in the superhero flick.
“Also, let's preface it with the fact that they don't license — Madonna doesn't just license the song, and particularly that song has not been licensed,” Reynolds said.
“So it was a big deal to ask for it and certainly a bigger deal to use it... We went over and met with her and showed her how it was being used and where and why,” he added.
Levy added in between that it felt like they were "meeting royalty."
Further, Reynolds jokingly added that he even asked one of the members of Madonna's team how to address her.
"Like am I allowed to just say, 'Madonna?' " he shared. "Like, 'Hello Madonna, I'm Ryan.' "
Apart from giving Deadpool team her permission, Madonna also gave some tips to make the scene even better, and her words added wonders to the sequence.
"And she gave a great note," Ryan recalled. "My God, she watched it and, I'm not kidding, just was like, ‘You need to do this, this, and this in this moment.' And damn it, if she wasn't like spot-on and right."
Agreeing with pop star's words, Levy and the entire team were quick to go back to work and do the changes. "We literally went into a new recording session within 48 hours to do this one note," he said. "She had only one note, and it was a great note, and it made the sequence better."
