Johnny Depp turned to Captain Jack Sparrow for a surprise visit to Donostia University Hospital in Spain.
Johnny Depp dressed as his iconic character Captain Jack Sparrow for a surprise visit to Donostia University Hospital in San Sebastián, Spain. On Thursday, the 61-year-old took some time out of his busy schedule to bring smiles on the faces of the children admitted to the hospital's Pediatrics and Oncology ward.
Depp, who is in Spain to promote his latest film Modi, interacted with the children in full character. According to the local newspaper El Diario Vasco, Depp played and laughed with the patients and never came out of character even for a second.
The hospital took to social media to express their gratitude and shared snaps of the Depp's surprise visit. In the caption, they wrote, “From all the staff of Donostia University Hospital, we would like to express our infinite gratitude to Johnny Depp for his time, his support, and his energy.”
On the work front, Depp is currently looking forward to the release of his directorial debut Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness at the 72nd San Sebastián International Film Festival. The film is about the life of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.

During a press conference at the festival, Depp said, "Each has their story. Sure, we can say that I’ve been through a number of things here and there. But, you know, I’m alright. I think we’ve all been through a number of things, ultimately. Maybe yours wasn't, didn’t turn into a soap opera, televised, in fact."
Following his hospital visit, Depp is set to open an experiential exhibition titled A Bunch of Stuff in New York City on October 4.
