New update: Kantara makers deny reports of injuries in bus accident, stalling of shoot

An accident was reported to have taken place near the set of Rishabh Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1. After the news of the major incident hit the headlines, an inside source close to the production said in a statement that a minor accident occurred 20 kilometres away from the shooting location and that no artist was reported injured. Additionally, the makers have also clarified that the shooting of the movie has not been paused.

"The news making rounds is completely false. The Kantara: Chapter 1 team began shooting at 6 AM today, and everything is proceeding as normal. A minor accident occurred 20 kilometres away from the shooting location, involving a local bus carrying some members of the Kantara team. However, no injuries were reported," a source said. 

Earlier it was reported that a bus carrying a junior artist met with an accident late night on Nov. 24, following which six junior artists were injured and taken to the hospital.

However, in the news statement, the source has dismissed reports of any artist injury. 

According to PTI, the incident took place at Mudoor in Jadkal when a minibus carrying 20 actors was overturned in the Udupi district. 

“The incident happened while they were returning to Kollur after completing the shoot at Mudoor in Jadkal. The minibus was carrying 20 junior artists when it met with the accident,” a police officer told PTI. The injured artists were quickly sent to the Jadkal Mahalakshmi Clinic in Jadkal and Kundapur for treatment. Due to the incident, the shoot has been temporarily halted. The police is currently investigating the case," said earlier reports. 

More About Kantara Chapter 1 

The news of the incident comes a few days after the makers announced the release of Kantara Chapter 1 with a new teaser. 

The gripping teaser opens with lines reading, “The moment has arrived; the divine forest whispers.”

Further, we get a glimpse of a dark forest and a full moon with Shiva (Rishab Shetty) gazing towards the sky. 

The voiceover reads, “Light! Everything is visible in the light! But this is not light! It’s a vision! A vision that shows us what was, what is and what will be tomorrow! Can’t you see?”

Penned and helmed by Shetty, Kantara: Chapter 1 – A Legend will hit the screens on October 2, 2025.
