Meghan Markle's choice of clothes during her trip to Nigeria with her husband Prince Harry invited criticism as the First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu remarked that it's "not the Met Gala". 

Meghan Markle is usually among the best-dressed people in the room and while she stunned us with her sartorial choices during her trip to Nigeria, people from the country aren’t too impressed with the Duchess. This was the same trip in which Meghan remarked that she has roots in Nigeria and ever since she found out that she has 43% Nigerian heritage based on a DNA test, she’s been wanting to visit the African nation. 

Nigeria’s First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu sent a strong message to the country’s women and warned Nigerian women not to copy American celebrities too much in their approach to fashion and styling.

The wife of the Nigerian President said Nigerian women should avoid copying Hollywood's bold fashion trends. In a meeting to celebrate her husband's first year in office, she asked young people to wear modest clothes and avoid revealing outfits popular in the US. She said, “We have to salvage our children. We see the way they dress. We are not having the Met Gala. And everyone, the nakedness, is just everywhere and the men are well-clothed.”

Hinting at Meghan Markle’s choice of clothes during her visit, the Senator said, “Tell them we don’t accept nakedness in our culture. That is not beautiful. It’s not beautiful at all.”

Tinubu mentioned Meghan's trip to Nigeria and added, “Why did Meghan come here looking for Africa? That is something we have to take home with us. We know who we are. Don’t lose who you are.”

Senator Oluremi Tinubu spoke about Nigerian women’s beauty and asked them to be confident in their identities. She said, “They’re all beautiful girls, but they should be confident in who they are. We are fashionable; we see what is going on.”
