Oprah suggested that the rumours may have spread like wildfire because people are not used to seeing women with such a deep and strong bond.

Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King are setting the record straight once and for all about the longstanding rumours about their relationship being more than just friends. During an appearance on Melinda French Gates’ Moments That Make Us podcast on Wednesday, the two besties opened up about their bond, clarifying that the lesbian rumours are as true as dragons and fairies.

"For years, people used to say we were gay, and listen, we were up against that forever," Oprah, 70, stated. "And people still may think it."

King, 69, confessed that she once begged Oprah to discuss these rumours on the Oprah Winfrey Show to clear the air and let the boys know that she was looking for a partner. "I used to say, ‘Oprah, you gotta do a show on this because it’s hard enough for me to get a date on Saturday night with people thinking we’re gay,’" the CBS star recalled. "Because if we were gay, we’d tell you!"

Oprah suggested that the rumours may have spread like wildfire because people are not used to seeing women with such a deep and strong bond, which she referred to as a "truth bond."

She explained, "The reason why I think our friendship has worked is that Gayle is happier, not just happy, but happier for me for any kind of success or victory or challenge I get through than I am for myself."

Previously, Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen revealed that he regrets asking Oprah if she had ever "taken a dip in the lady pond," which basically means having sex with another woman. To which, Oprah responded, "No, no, I have not. Thank you."
