Oprah Winfrey, who is currently 70 years old, never thought she would make it to 60. In a recent candid conversation on Today Show, the television personality opened up about her childhood days and the struggles she faced while growing up.
Oprah said that if her life hadn't taken a massive turn and if she had stayed the same old little girl from Milwaukee, she would have never been this healthy, strong and vibrant. Because the circumstances under which she lived her younger days were too traumatic for her.
"I was excited to make the number. I’m excited to make every number," Winfrey told Al Roker when he asked Oprah how she felt celebrating her milestone birthday in January. "I remember many, many years ago, as a young girl, I always thought I would never make it to the 60s or 70s. I had this number in my head that I thought, ‘Okay, I’m going to be out by then.’"

She added, "I don't know why. I think I had a vision of it when I was a kid and I think it is because under the circumstances that I was living [in] when I was a little girl in Milwaukee on welfare with my mother. What I now know is if I had stayed in those circumstances, I probably wouldn’t be here, healthy and strong and vibrant."
Oprah has always been open about her childhood struggles. She never hesitates to talk about living in poverty during her younger days in Mississippi, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Tennessee at different times in her childhood. Despite experiencing sexual abuse as a child and a teenager, she moved on in her life and made a mark in the media and entertainment industry.
