Hollywood star Tom Cruise was inducted as a Knight of the Legion of Honour by France’s Culture Minister Rachida Dati in a hush-hush ceremony on Friday, according to latest reports. 

The Knight of the Legion of Honour is the highest civilian award in France, which is given to individuals who have made great achievements in their fields.

Dati shared the moment with the public by posting a picture of herself posing next to Cruise on social media. In the caption, she wrote in French, "Congratulations to @TomCruise who is named a Knight of Arts and Letters by the Republic of France! His filming of 'Mission Impossible' in Paris in 2017 beautifully showcased our capital. His passionate defence of cinemas inspires all lovers of the big screen."
