This Diwali was a box office face-off between Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Ajay Devgn's Singham Again. While both the films have done impressive business at the box office, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is a few crores ahead of Rohit Shetty's actioner in this race.
Despite mixed reviews from critics, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 attracted big crowds to the theatres. One of the major highlights of the movie was Vidya Balan's return to the franchise after 17 long years. And the actress is not having any regrets about her decision to make a comeback as OG Manjulika.
Speaking to Indian Express, Vidya said that the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is beyond her imagination.
Talking about the same, she said, “Better than I could have imagined, and honestly, I had not imagined this. I never imagined that after 17 years I would do a Bhool Bhulaiyaa again and bring back to life Manjulika. I had not imagined that I would get so much love for it. I am very happy. I am so happy that the film is doing so well.”
She added, “The film is doing so well, I am loving it. It is my biggest to date. Can this get any better?”
Balan previously expressed her fear of reprising the role of Manjulika. She even declined the offer to reprise her role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 because she didn't want anything to go wrong that would tarnish the image established by the 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
"I was so scared because Bhool Bhulaiyaa has given me so much. So I said, if I did something wrong, then everything will be in vain. I told Anees ji that I can't take this risk,” Vidya told reporters before the release of the movie.
Balan played the role of Manjulika in Priyadarshan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which was released in 2007 and featured Akshay Kumar in the lead role. The movie has been seen as a cult classic.
