The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will meet again on Wednesday. There would be no session on Tuesday to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Constituent Assembly’s adoption of the Constitution in 1949.
The Winter Session of the Indian Parliament began on Monday (Nov 25) but both Houses- the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha- were adjourned till Wednesday amid uproar by opposition parties over several issues including the Adani bribery case.
The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will meet again on Wednesday. There would be no session on Tuesday to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Constituent Assembly’s adoption of the Constitution in 1949.
> The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha sessions will resume on Wednesday (Nov 27) at 11 am.
> Earlier, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon. As the session began at 11 am, opposition parties demanded a discussion on various issues before Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adjourned the proceedings for an hour. However, the session was adjourned till Wednesday.
> A similar situation was seen in the Rajya Sabha, where uproar by opposition leaders over the Adani issue led to the adjournment of proceedings till Wednesday.

> Before the separate sessions of the Houses began, a joint session of Parliament was held.
> The Winter Session of Parliament may conclude by December 20. A total of 16 bills will be introduced during the session.
> Notably, the Waqf (Amendment) bill is set to be tabled after a comprehensive Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) led by MP Jagdambika Pal collected witness accounts and testimonies from various stakeholders.
> Other bills that are listed for introduction, consideration and passing include the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill, the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, the Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, the Bills of Lading Bill, the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, the Railways (Amendment) Bill, the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, and the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill.
> The Boilers Bill, the Rashtriya Sahkari Vishwavidyalaya Bill, the Punjab Courts (Amendment) Bill, the Merchant Shipping Bill, the Coastal Shipping Bill, and the Indian Ports Bill, are also included in the list.
> Apart from the introduction and discussion on the bills, the issues set to dominate the session include the Adani bribery case, the ongoing violence in Manipur and the clashes in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal.

> Before the winter session began, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the country.
> "...and the most important thing is the beginning of the 75th year of the Constitution. Tomorrow, in the Samvidhan Sadan, everyone will celebrate the 75th year of our Constitution," Prime Minister Modi said.
> During his address, Modi also took a veiled dig at the opposition parties in India. "Some people who have been rejected by the people are constantly trying to control the Parliament through hooliganism by a handful of people," Modi said.
