From 'Dr. No' to 'Never Say Never Again', Sean Connery's iconic James Bond movies

Hollywood legend Sean Connery has passed away. Connery was the first actor to play James Bond in movies and of course, he is undoubtedly the greatest James Bond actor of all time. Sean started his career as 007 agent with the 1962 film 'Dr. No' and continued to portray the character in 6 other films.

Dr. No

Sean Connery's started his career as 007 agent with the 1962 film 'Dr. No'. It was the first time world was introduced to the British spy who had a license to kill. The movie had James Bond visiting Jamaica to investigate the disappearance of a fellow British agent. The movie which was made in a budget of $1.1 million grossed over $59.5 million at the box office.

From Russia With Love

Sean Connery returned for the second instalment of the series with 'From Russia With Love'. In the movie, Bond is tasked to search a Russian decoding machine, known as 'Lektor'. Bond needs to find this machine before the evil S.P.E.C.T.R.E. organization discovers it. The movie was a critical and commercial success.

The movie collected over $78 million in worldwide box-office receipts, far more than its $2 million budget and more than its predecessor 'Dr. No'.

Goldfinger

Sean Connery's third outing as 007 agent was in 'Goldfinger', the movie was made in a budget equal to that of the two preceding films combined. In the movie, Bond investigates the gold smuggling by gold magnate Auric Goldfinger and eventually uncovering Goldfinger's plans to contaminate the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox. 

The film was a financial success, recouping its budget in two weeks and grossed over $120 million worldwide.

Thunderball

The 1965 spy film, 'Thunderball', Sean Connery again takes the 007 role for the 4rth cosicutive time. The film follows Bond's mission to find two NATO atomic bombs stolen by SPECTRE, which holds the world to ransom for £100 million in diamonds, in exchange for not destroying an unspecified major city in either the United Kingdom or the United States.

You Only Live Twice

Sean Connery publicly announced his retirement from the franchise after, 'You Only Live Twice'. The 1967 spy film depicts a global conspiracy situation. During the Cold War, American and Russian spacecraft go missing, leaving each superpower believing the other is to blame. British intelligence learns that one of the crafts has landed in the Sea of Japan. The movie was a great success, receiving positive reviews and grossing over $111 million in worldwide box office.

Diamonds are Forever

Sean Connery stepped back into the role in 1971 movie 'Diamonds are Forever'. In the movie, James Bond, equipped with an armoury of hi-tech gadgets, infiltrates a Las Vegas diamond-smuggling ring in a bid to foil a plot to target Washington with a laser in space.

Never Say Never Again

Sean Connery played the role of James Bond for the seventh and final time in 'Never Say Never Again', marking his return to the character 12 years after 'Diamonds Are Forever'. The film's title is a reference to Connery's reported declaration in 1971 that he would "never again" play that role.
