Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sat down for an exclusive with popular chat show host Oprah Winfrey and spilled details for the first time on their decision to step back from royal duties and the events leading up to it.

By revealing their baby no 2's details, their financial backing to their relation with the Royals, here are all the big revelations from the bombshell interview.

Insensitive talks about baby Archie's skin colour

In the interview, when asked about how baby Archie was perceived by the “institution”, Meghan revealed the royals were extremely concerned about how dark skin Archie will be and whether they will consider making him a prince.

“In those months when I was pregnant ... we have in tandem the conversation of ‘He won’t be given security. He’s not going to be given a title,’ and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born,” she said.

Suicidal thoughts

Talking about her mental health, Meghan revealed in the interview that she was suicidal. She had contemplated suicide prior to the couple’s break from the royal family.

“I was really ashamed to say it at the time, ashamed to have to admit it to Harry — especially because I know how much loss he’s suffered. But I knew if I didn’t say it, that I would do it. I just didn’t want to be alive any more. That was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought. I remember how he just cradled me," she said.

Cut off financially

In the interview, Prince Harry revealed that he had been cut off financially from his family since the first quarter of 2020. It’s only after that they signed deals with Netflix and Spotify.

“That was never part of the plan,” Harry said. Financially, he said, he is dependent on the inheritance left to him by his mother, the late Princess Diana

Meghan was the one who actually cried, not Kate

In 2018, the year of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry wedding, several news stories said that few days before the wedding, Meghan made her sister-in-law Kate Middleton cry. Addressing the much-controversial matter that headlined for several days, Meghan denied the claims and said she was the one who actually cried.

"That was a turning point” Meghan said and added, "The reverse happened." "A few days before the wedding she (Kate) was upset about something, pertaining to yes the issue was correct about the flower girl dresses, and it made me cry. And it really hurt my feelings. There wasn't a confrontation and I don't think it's fair to get into the details of that because she apologised, and I have forgiven her. What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn't do, but that happened to me."

They were married before the official ceremony

Another major revelation was that the couple married earlier before the official ceremony. Meghan told Oprah that she and Harry wed in secret, three days before the official ceremony.

"Three days before our wedding, we got married," Meghan Markle said, revealing that they swapped vows in private before Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welsby ahead of the televised spectacle on May 19, 2018, at Britain's Windsor Castle.

She added, "No one knows that. But we called the archbishop, and we just said, 'Look, this thing, this spectacle is for the world, but we want our union between us.'"

It's going to be a girl!

Meghan and Harry are expecting a girl. Making the big reveal, Prince Harry said, “It’s a girl,” and added that the baby will be due in summer. He implied they wouldn’t have any more children, saying, “Two it is.”

“Amazing. Just grateful. To have any child, any one or two, would be amazing. But to have a boy and then a girl, what more could you ask for? Now we’ve got our family, the four of us and our two dogs. It’s great.” Harry added.

Rift with father Prince Charles

After announcing their Megxit, Harry revealed that Prince Charles had stopped taking his calls and said how he failed to support his son. "When we were in Canada, I had three conversations with my grandmother and two conversations with my father before he stopped taking my calls. And then he said, can you put this all in writing," Harry said.

"I feel really let down because he's been through something similar, he knows what pain feels like, (and) Archie's his grandson. I will always love him but there's a lot of hurt that's happened and I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship," he added.

Prince Harry

The Duke of Sussex revealed that he was being 'trapped' within the system of the monarchy, but he didn't realize it until he married Meghan Markle. "I was trapped, but I didn't know I was trapped," Harry told Oprah. The royal went on to clarify that he felt "trapped within the system, like the rest of my family are''.

"My father and my brother, they are trapped," Harry said. "They don't get to leave. And I have huge compassion for that."

'Invisible Contract' with Tabloids

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed that there is an 'Invisible Contract' between UK Tabloids and Royal Family, claim that he is "acutely aware" of "how scared [the royals] are of the tabloids turning on them.

"There is this invisible contract behind closed doors, behind the institution and U.K. tabloids," Harry said. "Well, to simplify it, it's a case of if you, as a family member, are willing to wine, dine, and give full access to these reporters, then you will get better press. I think everybody needs to have some compassion in that situation. There is a level of control by the fear that has existed for generations."

"Who's controlling whom?" Oprah asked. "It's the institution, from our point of view—the public."

Tabloids party at the palace

When talking about the tabloids, Meghan revealed that there are holiday parties at the palace, "There's a reason these tabloids have holiday parties at the palace," Meghan said.

"There is a construct that's at play there and because of the beginning of our relationship, they were so attacking and inciting so much racism, really, it changed the risk level because it wasn't just catty gossip. It was bringing out a part of people that was racist in how it was charged and that changed the threat; that changed the level of death threats, that changed everything."
