Earthquake today: 5.8 magnitude earthquake jolts Pakistan; Afghanistan and India also feel the tremors

Earthquake Today: Earthquake tremors were reported in Afghanistan and Pakistan on Wednesday (Sep 11) at around 7:28 am GMT (12:58 pm IST).

The tremors were also felt in India's capital, New Delhi, and nearby regions of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and as far as Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the USGS National Earthquake Information Center, the earthquake was of 5.4 magnitude, with its epicentre 31 kilometres west of Karor, Pakistan. However, as per the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) it had a magnitude of 5.8.

The quake was at a depth of 10 kilometres (6.21 miles), said the GFZ, as per Reuters.

As per India's nodal agency for monitoring of earthquake activity in the country, the earthquake was at "Lat: 31.25 N, Long: 70.52 E".

As per reports, the powerful earthquake jolted many cities of Pakistan's Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The strong tremor which was felt in Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sialkot, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lalamusa, Sangla Hill, Peshawar, Mardan, Swat and Abbottabad created panic.
