Paris Olympics 2024 continues to be a nightmare for the Indian wrestlers, with the latest reports claiming the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will punish the female grappler Antim Panghal over her disciplinary violation at the Summer Games.
Although earlier reports suggested that the Indian governing body is contemplating banning her for three years for her actions, the latest word suggests the IOA will stick with punishment and not a ban.
The reports of IOA handing Antim a three-year ban for allowing her sister to enter the Olympic Village on her ID card, leading to France Police summoning them for questioning, did rounds on social media, the official X handle of the Indian Olympic Contingent – Team India, reverted quickly to clarify the stance.
“IMPORTANT: IOA refutes reports that a ban has been imposed on wrestler Antim. It requests media persons to please check with the IOA leadership before posting such reports,” Team India’s post read in response to a PTI post claiming IOA is planning to ban Antim for a disciplinary breach.

However, despite this, the IOA will punish the Indian grappler for the embarrassment she caused to the whole contingent with her actions.
The IOA would publically announce the decision after a few days of deliberation.
"The Indian Olympic Association is contemplating taking action against Antim for the embarrassment she caused with her actions yesterday. They will deliberate on this matter for the next few days and then announce the punishment,” the report read.
Meanwhile, the Indian female wrestler lost her first match at the Paris Games 2024 in her weight category (53 kg) and got ruled out of the competition.
Shortly after the French Police summoned her sister for questioning over a potential security breach, the Indian contingent decided to send Panghal and her team back home.
