Following losing to Germany (3-2) in the semi-final, Team India was determined to take home the bronze medal, giving an almost-fitting farewell to the game’s iconic figure, PR Sreejesh.

The Indian captain, Harmanpreet Singh, was on the score sheet, hitting a brace against Spain as India clinched a clinical win to take home the fourth medal (overall) of this Summer Games. The bronze in men’s hockey is India’s fourth bronze medal of the Paris Olympics, with the previous three coming in the Shooting discipline, two of which Manu Bhaker won.

Meanwhile, India conceded the goal in the second quarter (18th minute) before the man of the tournament for the Men in Blue, Harmanpreet stepped up and equalised in the 30th minute; three minutes later, he scored the winner in the 33rd minute.
