Swapnil Kusale is the latest Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal at the Paris Games 2024. In the Men’s 50m air rifle 3 positions event final, Swapnil stood third with a score of 451.4. He became the third Indian, after ace shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh, to bag a bronze medal in Shooting at the 2024 Olympics.

Although Swapnil began positively during the finale, he ended up in the sixth position with a score of 153.3 after the first stage – the kneeling stage. 

He upped his game in the second stage – the prone stage, where he climbed one spot to the fifth position with a score of 310.1. At that stage, a tiny margin of 0.6 separated him and third-placed Ukraine’s Kulish.

However, during the standing stage, the final one, Swapnil displayed his best game, scoring 51.1 to get into the medal tally rankings. His final four shots of 10.5, 9.4, 9.9 and 10.0 ensured he stayed ahead of Czech Republic’s Jiri Privratsky, finishing third and winning the bronze medal for his country.
