Trump is also looking for a new set of advisors, like an out-of-the-box kind, as he said that the pair will provide external advice to the White House on how to "drive large-scale structural reform", Trump said in the announcement.
Since US President-elect Donald Trump made the announcement of a new department, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), netizens have gone crazy over the idea and the first two heads of this new office- Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk.
Two of the closest allies and biggest supporters of Trump have now been gifted with a new department of their own, and Musk absolutely loves this. The Tesla CEO has been posting about it on X since Trump made the announced on Tuesday (Nov 12).

Trump said that Musk and Ramaswamy “will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies – Essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement.”

Trump does say in the announcement that Ramaswamy, a biotech investor, will work with the SpaceX founder on the project to “dismantle” bureaucracy, but there is less known about how they’re going to do this.
Here’s what Musk might be planning to do with DOGE, but first some memes from netizens about how they feel about the new dept:

The acronym of the new department to DOGE is a 'sick' move and cannot be a mere coincidence, as Dogecoin is a Musk-backed cryptocurrency which he had promoted a lot on X. So much so that after Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election on November 5, Dogecoin witnessed a growth of 145 per cent.
But how is this department going to work and most importantly, what plans do Musk and Ramaswamy have with DOGE?
Post the announcement, the Tesla boss expressed, “A lot of people who are taking advantage of the government are going to be upset about it… I need a lot of security, but it’s got to be done, and if it’s not done, we’ll just go bankrupt.”

Musk sees this initiative as critical to addressing the nation’s unsustainable fiscal path, pointing out, “Our defence budget is pretty gigantic. It’s a trillion dollars. This is not sustainable. That’s why we need the Department of Government Efficiency.”
DOGE will maintain a “leaderboard” of wasteful government spending, which Musk believes will be “both extremely tragic and extremely entertaining.”
Meanwhile, Ramaswamy reposted Trump's announcement on social media saying "we will not go gently". He also said he was withdrawing from consideration to fill incoming US Vice-President JD Vance’s soon-to-be-vacated Ohio Senate seat.

The DOGE is not an official government department - such agencies have to be established through an act of Congress and typically employ tens of thousands of staff. This is just a temporary new department of Trump Cabinet 2.0.
