Story highlights

The Democrat Party’s campaign took a sharp turn after Biden, 81, bowed out of the presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to take the lead. Since the announcement, Harris got support from many high-profile Democrats including Hillary and Bill Clinton, California Governor Gavin Newsom and Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg, among others.

Days after Kamala Harris became the new presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, she garnered loads of funds and support from the Democrats and the party's supporters. She replaced incumbent United States President Joe Biden as the frontrunner for the Democratic Party for the upcoming elections in November.

Amidst popular backing for Harris from donors and Democrats alike, we are yet to hear from former US President Barack Obama.

However, several reports are now claiming that the former US president isn’t very keen on endorsing the incumbent vice president's presidential bid.

Obama is allegedly reluctant to Harris’ campaign because he thinks she cannot beat her rival Donald Trump, reported the New York Post citing a source close to the Biden family.

“Obama’s very upset because he knows she can’t win,” the Biden family source told the New York Post.

“Obama knows she’s just incompetent — the border czar who never visited the border, saying that all migrants should have health insurance. She cannot navigate the landmines that are ahead of her,” the source reportedly added.

The source also told the New York Post that they do not have high hopes for a debate between Harris and Trump.

This comes after the last debate between Biden and his predecessor in Atlanta proved to be a huge mess for the 81-year-old.

"She can’t debate. She’s going to put her foot in her mouth about Israel, Palestine, Ukraine. She’s going to say something really stupid," the source said about Harris to the publication.

The media report citing the source also said that Obama was willing for Biden to step aside but was “shocked” to know that he endorsed Harris for president.

The Democrats are now looking like a divided house, which is reportedly making them look weak. On the other hand, the Republicans are going full-throttle with Trump and his running mate JD Vance. Meanwhile, Harris is yet to choose her running mate.
