In a statement posted on X, the Jordanian communications ministry said, "Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Al-Momani said that the shooting incident that took place today in the Rabieh area is a terrorist attack on the Public Security Forces that are doing their duty."
The Jordanian government said on Sunday (Nov 24) that the shootout near the Israeli embassy in Amman was a terror attack that targeted the country's (Jordan) security forces.

The ministry said that an investigation was launched to find out "all the details and connections and to take the necessary security and legal measures accordingly."
Minister Dr Al-Momani pointed out that the attack that took place was carried out by people with drug and criminal records, and said these attacks were condemned by every honourable citizen.

"Jordan's stability and security are a red line and that no one will be allowed to tamper with it, indicating that tampering with the nation's security and assaulting public security personnel will be met with uncompromising firmness and the force of the law, and any criminal who attempts to do so will receive just retribution," the minister stressed.
Earlier in the day, the Public Security Directorate dealt with an incident of gunfire at a patrol operating in the Rabiah area in Amman.
The man opened gunfire on a patrol and was later surrounded by security forces. A report by the news agency AFP said the man started firing gunshots at security forces, which in turn applied the rules of engagement, which resulted in the killing of the perpetrator.

The three injured police personnel were receiving treatment.
A report by the news agency Reuters, meanwhile, said that Jordanian police had cordoned off the area near the embassy after gunshots were heard.
The Rabiah area is a flashpoint for frequent demonstrations against Israel. Jordan has witnessed some of the biggest peaceful rallies across the region as anti-Israel sentiment runs high over the war in Gaza.
