Without naming Trump, Michelle Obama said on Saturday, "If this election goes the wrong way, this, this backward vision of America being spewed by Kamala’s opponent, it will infect all of our lives no matter how old we are."

Former United States (US) first lady Michelle Obama on Saturday (Nov 2) called Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump a 'con man' who posed a real danger to the country.

Obama, who is backing Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, addressed a rally in Norristown where she took a veiled dig at Trump, a report by CNN said.

The presidential election in the US is set to take place on November 5.

'If this election goes the wrong way...'

Without naming Trump, Michelle Obama said on Saturday, "If this election goes the wrong way, this, this backward vision of America being spewed by Kamala’s opponent, it will infect all of our lives no matter how old we are."

“And if we fail, it will happen quickly, in concrete ways — large and small — from dismantling the Department of Education to gutting the women’s health system to prioritizing those at the top over everybody else,” Michelle added.

She described Trump, without naming him, as “a more skilled con man who is more brazen and bombastic.”

Trump calls Michelle 'nasty'

The former first lady's veiled dig at Trump came days after the Republican presidential candidate called her 'nasty'. Addressing a rally in Atlanta on Monday, Trump told supporters, "You know who's nasty to me? Michelle Obama."

“I always tried to be so nice and respectful. Oh, she opened up a little bit of — a little bit of a box. She opened up a little bit of something. Oh, she was nasty. Shouldn’t be that way. That was a big mistake that she made,” he added.

Trump's remark against Obama came days after she severely criticised him.

"I hope you'll forgive me that I'm a little frustrated that some of us are choosing to ignore Trump's gross incompetence while asking Kamala to dazzle us at every turn," the former first lady said at a rally in Michigan's Kalamazoo, urging any undecided voters to "snap out of whatever fog they're in."
