Watch: Israel Air Force’s female fighter pilots take part in airstrikes on Iran

The Israeli Air Force's (IAF) female fighter pilots took part in the retaliatory attack carried out on the Iranian military in the wee hours of Saturday morning (Oct 26). 

A video and photos of the female fighters were shared by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) as they got down from F-15 and F-16 fighter jets after carrying out airstrikes in Iran.

In the images shared by the IDF, four female navigators, who took part in the operation carried out by Israeli Air Force squadrons, are seen getting out of the aircraft after the airstrikes. 

As reported by the Israeli military, dozens of Israeli Air Force aircraft - which included refuellers, spy planes and fighter jets - took part in the strikes which were carried out nearly 1,600 kilometres from Israel.

The military sites in Iran were targetted by Israel in pre-dawn airstrikes Saturday (Oct 26) which marked the first time the military of Israel openly attacked Iran.

After the "complex" operation, the aircraft made a safe return to Israel.

Israel's retaliatory airstrikes on Iran

After the airstrikes, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that they have the right to self-defence, and “considers itself entitled and obligated to defend against foreign acts of aggression.”

Israel’s military announced that they targeted the Iranian facilities that have been used for making missiles fired at Israel along with surface-to-air missile sites.

Till sunrise, explosions were heard in Iran’s capital, Tehran. The Islamic Republic stated that the attacks caused “limited damage.”

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday (Oct 27) said that the air attack by Israel on Iran was "precise and powerful" and it was able to achieve all its goals.

"We promised we would respond to the Iranian attack and on Saturday we struck... The attack in Iran was precise and powerful, achieving all of its objectives," said Netanyahu, in a speech he gave to mark the Hebrew anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attack.
