Georgia US Presidential Election 2024: Georgia, a vital state for the 2024 US Presidential elections, held the final vote along with the rest of America on Nov 5.
The state of Georgia was a vital election ground for both the leading candidates: Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
A swing state i.e., a battleground state — where both major political parties, Democratic and Republican, have nearly equal support among voters — Georgia boasts a population of 10.7 million people.

Of this, according to the Georgia government website, 8,248,250 are registered voters.
Early voting began in the state on Oct. 15, and as per data compiled by Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's (R) office by Saturday (Oct. 26) more than 2.6 million people — over 50 per cent of the turnout for 2020 — had already voted. In 2020, just under 5 million voters cast their ballots in the state.
Historically, Georgia has been a red state, voting for the Republican Party. This pattern stayed true from 1992 to 2020, when Georgia, often referred to as the Peach State, flipped its vote and became a Blue State, voting for President Joe Biden.

Here, 'Write-in' refers to a candidate whose name does not appear on the ballot but who still seeks election by asking voters to cast a vote for them by physically writing in the person's name on the ballot. However, according to usa.gov, “writing in a name does not mean that the vote will count”.
In the 2020 US presidential elections, Georgia selected Biden by a narrow margin of 0.2 points — the smallest margin for the Democrat in the elections.
Georgia, a historically red state, once again voted for the Republican Party. The battleground state flipped from its 2020 vote and donned red, voting for Donald Trump, who with 50.7 per cent of the votes got the states' 16 electoral votes.
